We love designing bathroom remodels....we've done several of them over the past few years, but this particular client had a challenge for us. They wanted to turn their original 1980's master bathroom, in what they have decided to be their "forever" home, into a spa-like retreat. Seems fairly reasonable, right? Except they also requested that their newly remodeled bath be handicap accessible.
The request took us by surprise only because our clients are in good health, however because they do plan for this to be their last home, they wanted to be prepared incase they are faced with any kind of handicap in the future. Smart move, don't you think?!
And while we did fulfil their request, they asked that we not include grab bars, etc in our design as those can be added later, if needed.
So here are a couple of photos of our client's master bathroom before demo day...
And here is their new master bathroom...
The subway tile is from Ann Sacks and has the faintest blue/green border that we just fell in love with.
To offset the cost of the Ann Sacks wall tile, we opted for a less expensive floor tile consisting on a white hex with blue/green dots to coordinate with the wall tile.
The pedestal sinks not only provide wheel chair access, but they are so charming with their turned legs and exposed chrome plumbing.
The mirrors double as a medicine cabinet and the cabinet tower between the sinks provides additional storage for towels and toiletries.
And let's not forget the closet that is now accessible through double pocket doors at the back of the bathroom.
Another fun project in the books! Thank you again to our awesome clients for allowing Dana Bass and our Design Team to execute our vision. We know you will enjoy your new master bathroom for many years to come!
