Before & After: An Online Design Board Transformation

I need to take a minute to brag on one of my Online Design Board clients... Several months ago, I submitted a Master Bedroom Online Design Board for my out-of-state clients, The Perrigo's. I was thrilled to recently receive an email from them with photos of the final transformation, and I'm excited to share those photos with you today!

Here is the "before" picture of their master:

Their Online Design Board purchase included the following:

a scaled furniture floor plan

an electronic design board, which included images of some of their suggested items to convey the ambiance of their design

a specifications list, which specified what items to purchase and where to purchase them  *Note: not all items on the specifications list are shown on the actual Design Board

Below is their Online Design Board....

And here is the final transformation!

What a difference! And what I love most is that they were not afraid to improvise... For example, the headboard suggested in the design was not offered with a fabric frame... the Perrigo's preferred to have the frame, so they found another bed, similar to the one I had suggested.

As if receiving pictures of the conversion wasn't enough...the email that accompanied the pictures made my night!

"Emily, Ta-da! We are finished! We absolutely LOVE it! You reached right into my head and came up with a plan that was exactly what I wanted, but I couldn't have told you this is what I wanted:)" - Erin Perrigo

They did an amazing job, don't you agree?! And this was just the first of a total of 3 boards that I will soon complete for them....I'm excited to see their Living Room and Entry Way come together within the next few months!

Stay tuned for more Online Design Board transformations...

A Tranquil Master Bedroom Makeover

A couple of weeks ago, I posted a sneak peek of a Master Bedroom Makeover that I worked on last Fall. I had the opportunity to photograph the room this weekend (forgive me - I didn't get as many pictures as I had hoped as this was not my finest hour using my SLR camera).

Anyhow, it was certainly a fun project as the homeowner, Jean, was very involved in selecting many of the items. She even topped off the room with a beautiful chandelier, which was found by her daughter, Jenny, for only $80 at Costco of all places! Can you believe it?!

As a reminder, here is Jean's bedroom pre-makeover:

And here is her room today:

We replaced the queen sized four poster bed with a king linen headboard/frame which was adorned with polished silver nail heads.   And the carpet was replaced with sand & finished oak wood floors by Southland Flooring and Remodels.

And check out this glimpse of Jean's remodeled master bathroom (which she is responsible for designing all on her own!) Who doesn't love a chandelier in their master bath - or anywhere for that matter?!

I'm loving the brightened look of these rooms...very polished and serene! A love a good master bedroom makeover, don't you?

Our Kitchen Remodel is Complete!!!

I am THRILLED to announce that our Kitchen Remodel is complete! As I mentioned in "Making His House Our Home," I originally assisted in designing this home 6 years ago when my husband, who was single at the time, elected to build a rustic style home where him and a couple of his roommates would live in "bachelorhood" for the next several years. Little did either one of us know, we would eventually end up getting married and living in the home together!

Soon after we got married we discussed possibly selling the home and building in a neighborhood with a better school district...but because we love the area and do not yet have kids, we decided to stay in the house for the next 3-4 years....I agreed, under one condition of course...that we do a total home make over!

For the last year or so I have been hard at work converting my husband's bachelor pad into a stylish, more sophisticated home for the two of us. Our latest and most substantial project was our kitchen remodel. In my recent post, "A Little Design Inspiration for Your Wednesday," I introduced a few of my ideas and inspiration photos. I have been dreaming of white kitchen cabinets, Absolute Black honed granite counter tops and a backsplash filled with White Carrara marble, similar to this kitchen....

Our Kitchen Remodel

Not only did we paint our cabinets off white, we also added glass uppers to extend the cabinets to the ceiling (of course one of the upper lights went out right before I took the pictures...go figure). I am now on a mission to find the perfect decor for these fun little cabinets. I would love to incorporate the blue-ish turquoise color that used I in the adjacent living room...

We replaced the tiled counter tops with honed Absolute Black granite. I am pleased that I selected honed rather than polished as it gives it a more casual feel...

The tile backsplash has been replaced with a 1/2" x 1/2" White Carrara marble which is polished, so when the under cabinet lighting hits it just right, it's as if it sparkles!

We removed the stained shutter over the kitchen window and replaced it with a fabric shade which was my Friday night D.I.Y project......I'll tell you more about it later this week!

Our Kitchen Remodel

As you can see from the before pictures, this bar was about 12" taller before the remodel. We had it dropped to a more comfortable level and added a trash drawer (which I love!), 2 pot and pan drawers and wine storage...which in return added more counter top space. We also added 2 clear glass lantern pendant lights over the serving bar

Thanks for visiting today...I will keep you updated on what I find for the glass uppers...I have a feeling that might turn into a huge project of it's own...!
