Twin's Nursery Specifications

Thanks so much for all of your comments on last week's Nursery Reveal post! I became inundated with a plethora of comments and emails from readers wanting to know where I purchased a number of the items in the room. So rather than answer each and every one of you individually, I figured I'd just do a post answering all of your questions at once!

So here we go... See the links to the items at the end of the post.

Puffer Fish and Octopus

Pottery Barn Cordless Roman Shades (LOVE these!)

ZGallerie Marcella Tote

West Elm Ogee Ikat Window Panels (due to the height of the windows I had to hem the drapes, so I opted to hem them from the top by cutting the grommet portion off of the panel so that I could hang the panels with drapery hooks)

Mirrored Accent Table

ZGallerie Stella Mirrored Frames (Of course I had to have these after seeing that they were called "Stella" frames!)

Estelle Chandelier from Home Depot (and yet again HAD to have this chandelier once I saw it was named the "Estelle" Chandelier!) *Note: I added extra crystals to this chandelier*

Please let me know if I missed anything!

ZGallerie Pillows for Less... MUCH Less...

Hello all! Yes, I'm still alive... I've been absent in blogland lately because I've been focusing on wrapping up my last 2 clients as well as my last few online design boards before I go on maternity leave. Oh, and let's not forget the nursery...that has kept me super busy as well. As soon as I have all of the final finishing touches on the room I will be sure to post pics!

Speaking of the nursery, I was shopping for a few final accessories in ZGallerie the other day and quickly became distracted by these pillows:

Geo Pillow 22
Geo Pillow 22
Geo Pillow 22

I'm sure you've seen them before...you might have even considered buying them. But in my opinion, at $60 a pop they are a

bit

pricey, don't you think?

So as I made my way to the register (without the pillows), I noticed

these

:

Coordinating cloth napkins...and for only $6.95 a piece? Come on ZGallerie, you're making this

too

easy!

The measurements of the napkins are 20"x20" square...perfect for a substantial pillow. And if you are handy with the sewing machine (which I certainly am not) you could have one of these pillow covers with the pattern on the front

and

back for less than $14. Add the insert and you've got a new ZGallerie pillow for less than $25! In fact, you could make TWO of these pillows for less than the price of ONE of the $60 pillows!

What do you think? Is the savings substantial enough for you to go through the trouble of making the pillow? With the amount of money that we've already sunk into the nursery (

two of everything, remember???

), I would have totally given it a shot. But at the end of the day, the pattern just wasn't working with my already existing items in the nursery.

But if any of you try it, I would love to hear about it and see the end result!

Frugal Find of the Week! ZGallerie's Tuxedo Chandelier

Today's frugal find was actually discovered by one of my current clients... We are in the process of selecting lighting for her new home, so she has seen almost everything there is to offer over the last few weeks! I know you are all familiar with the fabulous Tuxedo Chandelier from ZGallerie, which retails for $799.00. I remember the first time I saw it in the store, I'm pretty sure my jaw hit the floor. It's gorgeous!

Well, if you are in the market for this legendary piece, today is your lucky day! My client found the exact chandelier HERE at Macy's for only $657.99! And even better...it's on sale through TODAY ONLY for $591.99!

While your perusing, check out this lovely matching sconce...on sale through today for only $105.99!

Let me know if you decide to take advantage of any of these amazing deals...I'd love to see how you incorporate them into your home!

Frugal Find of the Week Follow-up!

A few weeks ago I had lunch with one of my very first clients (and now friend) Seema, and her adorable baby boy! While talking over Tex-Mex, she mentioned that she was in the market for a sunburst mirror for her Dining Room and that she particularly liked the look of the Devon Mirror from ZGallerie. Having recently spent a day perusing through Garden Ridge, I remembered that I had seen a great sunburst mirror which was similar to the Devon....but of course the one at Garden Ridge was very reasonably priced. In fact, I was in the process of doing a post on this particular mirror for my Frugal Find that week!

So right after lunch, she headed to Garden Ridge to hunt it down. I did warn her that the finish on the mirror from Garden Ridge was quite atrocious....however, as I mentioned in the Frugal Find post....a little spray paint could take this mirror from drab to fab!!

As it turns out, Seema was up for the DIY project, so here are the pictures to document her work....

Here is the mirror before being purchased at Garden Ridge...

As you can see, she removed the center and taped off the mirror to protect it from the spray paint...

And voila! Here is the final product! Can you believe it?! I'd say she did a fabulous job!

Holiday Decor Inspiration

It's Novemberrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!!! (*in my obnoxious Oprah voice*) And I am super excited as this is the month that I start decorating for Christmas! I have recently been surfing the web and thumbing through magazine after magazine to find great inspiration for this year's Holiday decor. Now that our house in finally coming together I am excited to start pulling out all of the decorations and toying with new ideas! Today I want to share with you some of my favorite inspiration pictures in hopes that they will inspire you to begin thinking about your own Holiday decor!

First and foremost, your front door....it's a fun way to let people know what sort of fabulousness to expect inside. I love the idea of doing three wreaths rather than just one...and the candle light in the lanterns will give such a cozy feel at night. Very inviting!

Wreaths don't have to be made from greenery and pine cones...get creative...be sure that your wreath reflects your own style.

If you want a little more glam, you might go for something like this....... A wreath made of crystal brooches and strands of pearls, does it get more glamorous than that?

Looking for something a little more vintage? How about this wreath made from old book pages....very pretty and sooooo easy to make!

If you have a Christmas tree, it's always fun to decorate it in colors that match your decor. Don't be afraid to for-go expected colors such as red and green. Below are perfect examples of stepping outside of the box to reflect your personal style...

This tree will be perfect for that beach house I've always dreamt of owning....maybe I'll get one for Christmas (pretty please?!)

Add some sparkle with these fun votives...

And these napkin rings from Z Gallerie...

Dreaming of a white Christmas?? How about this for some inspiration...

Feeling inspired yet?

Frugal Find of the Week! Sunburst Mirror

As mentioned in yesterday's post, I love mirrors and I literally can't stop buying them! They are just so versatile! I have used this mirror, from Z Gallerie, in a couple of my recent projects...

I used the gold mirror pictured above in a recent master bedroom makeover (pictures coming soon)......and the white one below in a baby boy's nursery...

Several weeks ago I was on the prowl for some great accessories for a Bachelor Pad Makeover when I came across this sunburst mirror at Garden Ridge for only $39.99!

Now let's be honest....the finish is terribly unattractive.....but the shape is perfect! And you could easily sand down the frame and paint it in any color you desire! At $39.99 it's certainly worth a shot!!

Here are some inspiring ways to use a sunburst mirror in your own home....

This bedroom is TO-DIE-FOR!!! Love the sunburst over the fireplace!!

I am loving this bedroom as well! The color palette is perfection!

Now this is unique! I love that it is slightly more rustic that most other sunbursts you see...

Ummmm.....can you say drama!!! What a great space!

Thanks for stopping by...and happy Friday!

A Baby Boy's Nursery...

A few weeks ago (6 to be exact!) I got an email from a Mommy-to-be who asked me if I would help her with her soon to be baby boy's nursery. I was thrilled as I had not yet had the opportunity to style a nursery! However her and her husband were due to move into their new home, settle in, and have their first baby all in less than 6 weeks! I was excited and nervous all at the same time, but I couldn't help but wonder, ummm, what happens if she goes into early labor?!?! What if this baby has to come home to an insufficient nursery?!?! Well, I am happy to announce that the nursery is complete (with the exception of a few empty picture frames) just in time! The proud parents welcomed their baby boy last Thursday!

Frugal Find of the Week! Z Gallerie's Angelique Mirror

ZGallerie angelique mirror white Frugal Find
ZGallerie angelique mirror white Frugal Find

I am loving this Angelique mirror from Z Gallerie! The shape gives sort of an antique feel, but the high gloss white finish lends a modern twist.

The price of the Angelique mirror  is $349.00....a bit pricey for an "accent" mirror if you ask me (or maybe I'm just too frugal!). Anyhow, check out this great alternative that I found for 80% LESS!

Mirror from Garden Ridge / co ZGallerie Frugal Find
Mirror from Garden Ridge / co ZGallerie Frugal Find

WHERE, you ask?  Garden Ridge (Garden Ridge!! Can you believe it?!) for only $59.99!! The shape and style is similar to the Angelique, and with a little high gloss paint you could turn this piece into high glam!

I am dying to use this mirror somewhere, but unfortunately it doesn't quite "go" with the style of our home. So I found a few spaces where it would really fit in!

It would be fantastic in this room!! I would paint it black and hang it in place of the painting on the far wall...it's not that I don't like the painting, I just think the curves of the mirror would add a nice contrast as most everything else in the room is very square.

Black and White room
Black and White room

Same goes for this room! The frugal find would fit right in....maybe over some sort of vanity on the wall opposite the bed to mirror the curves of the headboard.

Nicky Hilton Bedroom

Just because it'a a baby's room, doesn't mean everything in it has to be "baby-ish!" Just look at that wall paper...I love it!! If I were to use the mirror in this room, rather than painting it black or white, I would paint it in a crackled gold and hang it in place of the vertically stacked shadow boxes. Oh, my goodness....that would be amazing...

About a million of my girlfriends are pregnant right now, but as far as I know they are all having boys....I need someone to have a girl so I can design a nursery around this week's frugal find already!! :-)

Frugal Find of the Week!

I was doing some shopping for a client at Z Gallerie this week when I stumbled upon this:

ZGallerie Sofa Frugal Find
ZGallerie Sofa Frugal Find

Willow Sofa: Z Gallerie $999

Look Familiar? That's because I have very similar sofas which were featured in last week's post, "Making His House Our Home!"

After examining this sofa for a few minutes, I came to realize that the size and fabric are comparable to the sofas in my home. The only noticeable difference is the skirt, which I personally do not care for anyways.

Here is the sofa that I purchased....it's from Macy's and on sale for $699! Now that is a frugal find!
