Sneak Peek: My New Tufted Dining Chairs

A couple of months ago, I finally pulled the trigger on the dining chairs from Overstock that I posted about back in December. I knew I had to have them when I ordered what I thought were very similar chairs from the Weirs Outlet for a client's dining room... I "conveniently" had her chairs delivered to my house before installation, and tested them out around my own dining room table...I was immediately sold! I actually wasn't even aware that they were the EXACT same chair until my Overstock chairs were delivered...I just figured they were very similar.

A few months later, after seeing this particular chair all over blogland, I knew I needed to act fast as I suspected they would sell out in no time. I was right!

I thought I scored big when I purchased my client's chairs from Weirs Outlet at $200 a piece until I ordered mine from Overstock on sale for $93 a piece -- plus free shipping!

Unfortunately, I don't have great photos of my new dining chairs in action just yet. As I stated in last week's post, I had planned on photographing many of my recent projects before my due date in May, but this unexpected hospital bed rest has really thrown things off track. However, I promise to get pics posted asap! Here is a not-so-great sneak peek from an iPhone pic to hold you over until then...

While I am aware that there are similar chairs at local retailers, what I love about these chairs is that the back is very thick with a substantial amount of padding allowing for deep tufting. They were easy to put together (I mean, they were easy for me to watch them being put together by my husband :-)) and they are very sturdy! I have no complaints, except for the fact that they are now sold out!

But don't worry, if you are in the market for linen dining chairs, Overstock has other fabulous options for you to choose from such as these:

So what do you think about Overstock's inventory of dining chairs? Have you seen anything similar for a comparable price??

Frugal Find of the Week! Octopus Triptych

Giuliana DePandi and Bill Rancic Home

I had so many positive responses to my post on the Octopus Triptych. I was delighted to see that so many of my readers seem to love it as much as I do! A couple of you even pointed out that you had seen it in the dining room of "Giuliana & Bill." I had noticed it in their home as well...gorgeous, don't you think?!

{image via costal-style-living.com}

Clearly Giuliana & Bill have the means for a $4,000 piece of art. But for those of us that live in the real world....check out my latest Frugal Find of the Week!

I found this replica on

for only $34.99 per section...totaling less than $105! While the colors aren't exactly the same, the aqua is kind of fun....and you could always bring in more navy blue by framing them with thick navy blue mats.

Frugal Find of the Week! Sisal Rug

So many interiors are giving center stage to sisal rugs these days. They are stylish and versatile.....they can stand alone or be layered. Either way, they are fabulous!   Here are a few spectacular interiors featuring sisal rugs...

Frugal Find of the Week! Lantern Pendant Lights

I have received several compliments on the pendant lights that I used in our kitchen remodel. I found them for an amazing price, so I decided to feature them as this week's frugal find! I originally considered purchasing the Hundi Lantern from Pottery Barn.....

Frugal Find of the Week! Trellis Rug

I spotted this fabulous trellis rug about a year ago while surfing the web in an effort to style a living room for one of my clients. Instantly, I fell head over heals in LOVE with it and I just knew had to have it!

source: casasugar.com

Undoubtedly, a rug like this is hard to come by.....especially for a suitable price! I don't like to spend a fortune on rugs....I have 2 sweet puppies that can be destructive, AND I often grow tired of  pieces very easily!  Where could I find something similar without spending thousands of dollars?

Well....never in a million years did I think I would come across something like THIS......

Trellis Rug

............especially not at Garden Ridge! And for $99.00 for an 8'x10!?! I was amazed!

Now let's be honest, it's not the softest floor covering in the world....but it might just be exactly what you need to make a statement in your home in an area where you're not looking to spend a ton of cash!

I went ahead and purchased an 8'x10'  for our master as I wanted to bring some color and pattern to the floor. I think it does the trick (for now anyways)! Luca seems to be enjoying it as well!

Frugal Find of the Week Follow-up!

A few weeks ago I had lunch with one of my very first clients (and now friend) Seema, and her adorable baby boy! While talking over Tex-Mex, she mentioned that she was in the market for a sunburst mirror for her Dining Room and that she particularly liked the look of the Devon Mirror from ZGallerie. Having recently spent a day perusing through Garden Ridge, I remembered that I had seen a great sunburst mirror which was similar to the Devon....but of course the one at Garden Ridge was very reasonably priced. In fact, I was in the process of doing a post on this particular mirror for my Frugal Find that week!

So right after lunch, she headed to Garden Ridge to hunt it down. I did warn her that the finish on the mirror from Garden Ridge was quite atrocious....however, as I mentioned in the Frugal Find post....a little spray paint could take this mirror from drab to fab!!

As it turns out, Seema was up for the DIY project, so here are the pictures to document her work....

Here is the mirror before being purchased at Garden Ridge...

As you can see, she removed the center and taped off the mirror to protect it from the spray paint...

And voila! Here is the final product! Can you believe it?! I'd say she did a fabulous job!

Frugal Find of the Week! Medallion Throw Pillows

Since I've posted about my friend Jenny's Master Bedroom Makeover, I've received several inquires about where we found the medallion fabric for the throw pillows on her bed. Jenny actually found this fabric at Fabric Factory here in Dallas. She loved it so much we decided to design the entire room around it. So we had a few throw pillows made for the bed, and after all was said and done, the pillows ended up costing around $50 each.

Frugal Find of the Week! Sunburst Mirror

As mentioned in yesterday's post, I love mirrors and I literally can't stop buying them! They are just so versatile! I have used this mirror, from Z Gallerie, in a couple of my recent projects...

I used the gold mirror pictured above in a recent master bedroom makeover (pictures coming soon)......and the white one below in a baby boy's nursery...

Several weeks ago I was on the prowl for some great accessories for a Bachelor Pad Makeover when I came across this sunburst mirror at Garden Ridge for only $39.99!

Now let's be honest....the finish is terribly unattractive.....but the shape is perfect! And you could easily sand down the frame and paint it in any color you desire! At $39.99 it's certainly worth a shot!!

Here are some inspiring ways to use a sunburst mirror in your own home....

This bedroom is TO-DIE-FOR!!! Love the sunburst over the fireplace!!

I am loving this bedroom as well! The color palette is perfection!

Now this is unique! I love that it is slightly more rustic that most other sunbursts you see...

Ummmm.....can you say drama!!! What a great space!

Thanks for stopping by...and happy Friday!

I Love Mirrors!

I love mirrors! I know...as if you didn't notice, right?  I have them all over our house! Many of you have inquired about where I have purchased all of the mirrors that have been featured in some of my posts, so here goes......From "Making His House Our Home:" I found these two sunbursts at Home Goods for only $59.99 each! They are trimmed in an antiqued gold, which I love!

Again, from"Making His House Our Home:" not the best picture....but the mirror in the top right corner is bordered with weathered tree branches...a gift from my in-laws. We have two of them to create symmetry....something else I can't seem to get enough of!

Another shot of the mirrors...I like that they add another rustic element to the space.

From "Frugal Find of the Week!! Mirrored Nightstand:" Mirrors aren't just for hanging! They also make stunning furniture pieces like this one from Home Goods for only $199.99!

I am now on the hunt for the perfect sunburst to go over our bed. It needs to be very small and preferably gold. It is one of the last items that I need to complete our master bedroom, so I am very anxious! Any ideas? Here is what I have in mind:

The larger one pictured below would be perfect!

This one is nice....maybe a little too small though...? The size kind of makes it more interesting...

Maybe this one from Ballard Designs...designed by Suzanne Kasler.

What do you think about me trying out this DIY sunburst that I saw on Isabella & Max via Honey We're Home?!?! Sooooo dramatic!! Don't you love it?! I'm seriously considering making a smaller version in gold! What do you think??

Frugal Find of the Week! West Elm Zebra Print Pillow

West Elm Pillow
West Elm Pillow

I hate to admit it, but I am a sucker for animal print...especially zebra. No...I don't feel the need to blanket my home in cheetah spots and zebra stripes, but I am very fond of a little punch of zebra print here and there. So it should be no surprise that I fell in love these zebra print pillows when I encountered them at West Elm several months ago! In fact, I loved them so much I bought two of them!

Animal print can be very edgy....it can add just the right touch of pizazz to a space that may otherwise feel drab and boring. At least that's what I was thinking when I bought them for our Master Bedroom anyway. The room is full of cool neutrals, so I wanted something bold to spice things up a bit!

Master Bedroom After

Because these pillows have been very sought after, I was not surprised when I found a very similar pillow (for much less) at Home Goods!

This pillow, which is constructed of the same material as the one at West Elm, is very similar to the espresso/ivory version and  includes the insert for only $19.99! The pillow from West Elm is $39.99 and includes the cover only (inserts usually run around $14). Love this Frugal Find!

Frugal Find of the Week! Z Gallerie's Angelique Mirror

ZGallerie angelique mirror white Frugal Find
ZGallerie angelique mirror white Frugal Find

I am loving this Angelique mirror from Z Gallerie! The shape gives sort of an antique feel, but the high gloss white finish lends a modern twist.

The price of the Angelique mirror  is $349.00....a bit pricey for an "accent" mirror if you ask me (or maybe I'm just too frugal!). Anyhow, check out this great alternative that I found for 80% LESS!

Mirror from Garden Ridge / co ZGallerie Frugal Find
Mirror from Garden Ridge / co ZGallerie Frugal Find

WHERE, you ask?  Garden Ridge (Garden Ridge!! Can you believe it?!) for only $59.99!! The shape and style is similar to the Angelique, and with a little high gloss paint you could turn this piece into high glam!

I am dying to use this mirror somewhere, but unfortunately it doesn't quite "go" with the style of our home. So I found a few spaces where it would really fit in!

It would be fantastic in this room!! I would paint it black and hang it in place of the painting on the far wall...it's not that I don't like the painting, I just think the curves of the mirror would add a nice contrast as most everything else in the room is very square.

Black and White room
Black and White room

Same goes for this room! The frugal find would fit right in....maybe over some sort of vanity on the wall opposite the bed to mirror the curves of the headboard.

Nicky Hilton Bedroom
Nicky Hilton Bedroom

Just because it'a a baby's room, doesn't mean everything in it has to be "baby-ish!" Just look at that wall paper...I love it!! If I were to use the mirror in this room, rather than painting it black or white, I would paint it in a crackled gold and hang it in place of the vertically stacked shadow boxes. Oh, my goodness....that would be amazing...

About a million of my girlfriends are pregnant right now, but as far as I know they are all having boys....I need someone to have a girl so I can design a nursery around this week's frugal find already!! :-)

Frugal Find of the Week! Linen Dining Chairs

Restoration Hardware is one of my beloved retailers! Fortunately there is a store located near my house, so it is convenient for me to pop in every now and then to marvel at their creations. I dream of one day having an entire house full of Restoration Hardware furniture, accessories and linens! I adore their Dining Room assemblies! Just look at this table....and those over sized lanterns....absolutely stunning!

I also fancy this stylish Dining Room set up...particularly the upholstered dining chairs... When I saw them, I knew I had to have them!

But as I mentioned in my "Welcome" post a few weeks ago, "My struggle is that I fall out of love with pieces just as quickly as I fall in love with them, which makes for very expensive decorating!" So I knew that I would feel much more comfortable purchasing a slightly less expensive alternative... just in case.

Here is the chair that started it all...the Martine Upholstered armchair from Restoration Hardware priced at $419.00

What I love most about this chair is the shape and the nail head trim...

And here is my Frugal Find! The Becca Linen Dining Room Chair from Overstock.com priced at $189.99! I ordered 2 of them...one for each end of our Dining Room table.

L12059801a.jpg (650×650)

It doesn't have the tufted back like the Martine from RH, but I prefer that as they sit near our sofa, which does have tufting, and I thought it might be a little much. I also like the darker stain on the legs and the chrome nail head trim that wraps around the front of the seat...

I hope everyone has a great weekend...and don't forget to check back Monday for  pictures of our Kitchen Remodel!

Frugal Find of the Week!

I was doing some shopping for a client at Z Gallerie this week when I stumbled upon this:

ZGallerie Sofa Frugal Find
ZGallerie Sofa Frugal Find

Willow Sofa: Z Gallerie $999

Look Familiar? That's because I have very similar sofas which were featured in last week's post, "Making His House Our Home!"

After examining this sofa for a few minutes, I came to realize that the size and fabric are comparable to the sofas in my home. The only noticeable difference is the skirt, which I personally do not care for anyways.

Here is the sofa that I purchased....it's from Macy's and on sale for $699! Now that is a frugal find!
