Before & After: Merging a Ft. Worth Couple's Styles of Rustic and Refined
Many of you have asked to see more of the 1970's Minibar Make Over post from a couple of months ago, and we are finally ready to reveal the project in its entirety!
Our clients are a young couple that needed help combining their two different very styles in their new Ft Worth home. He favors a masculine, rustic look and she favors a more refined sophistication. We had so much fun coming up with a design to satisfy both of their needs!
Here is a before photo of their family room:
Here is the after:
We needed this wall to feel more balanced, so we reconfigured the shelving in the built-in so that the television was on center. And a set of art lamps were installed above for accent lighting. We also replaced the existing floor tile with a 2 1/4" sand & finished hardwood.
The style is kept clean and chic by going neutral in the overall space and adding classic patterns such as houndstooth and plaid. We loved this client's existing trunk so much that we opted to use it as a coffee table for that rustic touch. Isn't it lovely?!
Now for the living room... Here is a before:
Here is the after...
Again, we replaced the parquet floors with sand & finish hardwood. We opted for neutral colors and classic patterns. We also love using wallpaper to create depth and texture, so we installed a beautiful dark gray Schumacher sisal wallpaper on the back wall of the built-ins. Love!
And don't forget the 1970's style wetbar that is in the formal living room. Can I just say that it is completely gratifying when a non-functioning and outdated space is give new life in a stylish form?!
Little finishing touches were added here and there throughout the house.
Here is a custom made valance to complete the kitchen nook.
And new bedding for the master bedroom, of course!
Alli was the lead designer on this project and never ceases to do an amazing job. She successfully incorporated the different preferences of the couple's styles and tied both together cohesively. Thank you to our lovely clients for this fun opportunity and for allowing us to help you love your new home!
