When I started this business almost 3 years ago, I had no intention of having a "team" of designers. It's not that I didn't want a team, I just didn't think I'd ever have a need for one. But at the end of 2012, it became evident that bringing aboard a second Design Consultant was the next natural step in this business venture. The fact is, I was finding myself either over committing to clients or turning them away...I felt like I was in a lose, lose situation.
So in January, I brought on Allison as a part time assistant and OH-my-goodness was she amazing! I no longer found myself working until 2am, and I finally had my weekends back!!!
The first few months of 2013 were very busy months for us and proved to be a sign of what was to come. So in April, I offered Allison a position as a full time Design Consultant. She has a passion for Design and entrepreneurship in her blood... But most importantly, she has proven to me that she is committed to the expansion, growth and success of this company. (oh, and she's a social media guru, so she's forcing me to get a Twitter acct as well as Instagram... yah, wish me luck )
Now that Allison has gotten a couple of months of training under her belt, it's time for us to start collaborating on designs. Our first project as a "team," is a 1920's Tudor home in a historic Dallas neighborhood. We are still in the preliminary stages of our design, but I'm really excited about the direction in which it's going....we'll be sure to keep you updated!
And needless to say, officing out of my home is no longer an option for many reasons...space, storage, kids, ya know - overall sanity... so we have recently moved into an office space close to downtown, and we are in the process of getting settled.
Oh, and business isn't the only thing growing around here... Beckham & Stella turned 1 last month and we celebrated with a "Sugar & Spice" themed party... The theme, of course, derives from each of their personalities :-)
Anyways, here are a few fun pics from their party...
The Sugar & Spice themed invites:
The paper sache was filled with red hots...
Beckham's gift from us was a bounce house..... we are hoping it will help him get all of him energy out!
And Stella's gift from us was her very own Lisa Vanderpump garden swing. (come on ladies, don't act like you don't indulge in some Real Housewives drama)
I bought the swing off of Etsy, painted it, and added flowers... Stella loves it!
And finally....the smash cakes:
Stella loved her cake!
Beckham, on the other hand, not so much :-)
Stay tuned for project updates in the next couple of weeks!
