My Biggest Project Yet...

So sorry for the lack of posts last week.... I wish I could say I was galavanting about town, finding the latest and greatest design decor. But the truth is, I was sleeping. Yes, sleeping. All--week--long. Those of you that know me personally know that my husband and I have been trying to conceive for almost a year and a half. We've tried it all... after several failed months, we turned to Clomid, which eventually led to several IUI's...Let's be honest, I wasn't exactly thrilled with the fact that my future children would be conceived by artificial insemination, but whatever it takes, I guess.

After several failed IUI's, we were told that we had less than a 5% chance of getting pregnant unless we turned to IVF....In Vitro Fertilization....Seriously??!! I was totally freaked out by the thought of IVF, thanks to last year's episodes of "Guiliana & Bill!" All I knew was that we needed to prepare ourselves for a serious emotional roller coaster.

So in August, we started our first round of IVF.... It was a rough month of 1-3 shots a day, 2 (very invasive) procedures, several blood tests, sonograms and Dr's appts. But in the end, it was worth it! On the last day of our family vacation in Maui, we found out we were finally pregnant!

Here is how we broke the news to my family... They thought we were posing for a family photo... (click on the Baby News video below)

After we got back from Maui, I had a few more blood tests to make sure everything was ok, and it was. We were assured 3 times that even though we had transferred 2 fertilized embryos, only 1 attached. Even though we desperatley wanted twins, we were perfectly happy with just one!

Last Friday was our first sonogram...and much to everyone's surprise, the Dr found 2 heartbeats! We are pregnant with TWINS after all! (Now you can understand why I slept all week!!)

We are only 7 1/2 weeks, but our Dr assured us that it is ok to announce at this time, as each of the babies has a very strong heartbeat!

Our official due date is May 27th, but we will probably deliver at the end of April. That gives me 6 months to complete my biggest project yet! Our first (and LAST!) nursery!

Six months might sound like a long time, but just wait until you see the room that I will be transforming. As of now it's my husband's "man cave." Ugh - It's terrible....and I cannot wait to turn it into something stylish! I already have a furniture layout in mind, but I want to wait to find out the sexes until I go any further. One thing I can assure you is that this nursery will have a chandelier...even if it's two boys! They will get over it! :-)

Thanks for taking the time to read my crazy long post... Stay tuned for updates on this exciting project!
